The Vandals Took the Handles (An Opera)

...artists live in the meantime--the meantime dies
& in its place comes the sometimes...

~prince hamlet aka robert zimmerman

In between books, today ANON by Dick Allen became my priority. I like this passage:

...you must remember you can't
do anything unless

it doesn't matter how

it turns out. To act

is to choose; but to choose

is not to act.
The
purest perform
because it pleases them

to pretend;

the happiest of men

are those who know they can

give anything up

and not

submerge themselves

in guilt. They see
everything's a part

of one long run

and anything that happens for the good

is also bad

and anything that happens for the bad

brings good.

I don't matter, and

I am not you.

we slept without it.

Guitars Kissing & the Contemporary Fix

...since love is round and man misshapen
~Alice Oswald

Yes, and all day pigeons take a shit on the hood of my ever forsaking car.

I take love for granted quite often.  It's like society now.  Talking about it only makes me feel more incomplete.  Like Louise LabĂ© once wrote:  I live, I die, I burn myself and drown.

Me too!

Except, water deep enough to drown in is difficult to find in the southwest.  First, the jar only holds so much.  Second, the mosquitoes attack it.  Third, by the time I remember why it is I'm trying to drown, another slew of obstacles happen.

So, he has announced another U.S. tour.  So, I've become obsessed with it.  So, I'm going.  September 6th.  San Diego.  Concerts on the Green at Qualcomm Park.

My eyes see, my ears hear so much, and I am thrilled.
